In the absurdity that is life on Earth today, I find catharsis in meditative observation. Through this analysis of my surroundings, I stay curious of my role as director and spectator. In my installation Dear, Observer I create a visual and sculptural mind map of how the slew of religious, historical, iconographic, spiritual, aesthetic and symbolic information absorbed throughout life on Earth is remixed into a visual language and practice. I mash it up, reconstruct it, recontextualize it and poke at the norms that many of us have become accustomed to. This installation serves as a portal into the way I investigate Earth life and informs my POD, “Earth Walking”. This Photo Book explores a fictional storyline of aliens disguised as humans researching life on our planet. In conjunction, my Artists Book, “Earth Walking II”, examines the compositional easter eggs found in unsuspecting places. Many of these places are structures and forces that have long controlled the digital and physical landscape in which we inhabit. Drawing new meaning from these forces is an act of reclamation. This observational practice shown throughout the work offers a mysterious and inquisitive point of departure for audience members to draw their own meanings, interpretations and projections, adding to the collective uniqueness of how we each choose to investigate and process our existential experience.
